lovely example of the rare chromium rich variety of Andradite garnet - Demantoid. This piece is made up of a dense piece of matrix with a shallow cavity on one end playing host to 7/8 rich green dodecahedral crystals, the largest reaching 7mm plus. The other end of the specimen also has a few more, slightly smaller, well developed crystals. Nice example for collectors and mineral/gem enthusiasts alike. A completely natural occurrence, this crystal specimen has not been treated in any way. |
